Idk what the most common tag for “danny and phantom are separate entities” is (I know “pitch pearl” is a name for something but I think that’s specifically the ship version? Idk) but I just had a thought…
What if it that concept was combined with the Danyal Al Ghul / Demon Twins AU?
Like, I can think of a number of potentially interesting ways to take it
“Half ghost twins” Danny and Damian: one is the ghost and other is the human
A teenage(ish) civilian ghost helping Danyal act like a normal civilian child
Or alternatively, a very much not civilian ghost tries to help Danny blend in but has no idea what normal teens are like either so they’re usually way off
Danny working with the ghost someone the League killed (or potentially even someone he himself killed…)
A ghost overshadowed Danny to seek their revenge on the League but then went “wait, this is a traumatized child soldier” and decides they need to help him
Danny died and was tossed in the Lazarus Pit, and when he emerged, another spirit was tagging along at his side
Danny died and was tossed into the Lazarus Pit. His body emerged, but his soul wasn’t in it. Instead, he’d swapped places with another ghost who was now controlling his body while he tried to coach them on not getting his body killed until they can find out how to swap back

Do You Feel That?
Idea. So imagine the bats are going to Amity (or a place nearby) to investigate something. A building that had very strange readings, maybe even investigating a case. Probbaly starting in a forest. So this place is haunted naturally, and the ghosts can’t be perceived by the human eye. In this universe, Danny can technically become visible in his ghost form if he concentrates, along with many powerful ghosts, but their default is intangibility and invisibility and it’s just inefficient to use a that much power just to be seen. So most things that happen in Amity are not seen by normal people. Those infected by ectoplasm (the pits and ectoplasm being two separate things in this) are able to see ghosts after enough exposure. So if a hero were to come to Amity, they would see the destruction happening but it would look like some kind of invisible force, and then if they ask why others aren’t panicking, they just say Phantom is taking care of it.
Anyways, so the bats do not know about ghosts and are investigating this house and basically every kind of malevolent spirit you can think of is there and trying to mess with them. After all, even if they can’t see a ghost, that ghost can still affect them. And Phantom sees these idiots getting closer to one of the designated danger zones in his territory. (Or he was visiting a nearby haunted area due to the rising danger level and sees the bats right in the middle of it) The place all natives know to avoid at all costs. So the bats go anyways, completly oblivious to the danger. Danny arrives just in time to stop a ghost who was inches away from digging their claws into Red Robin.
And it goes on with Danny desperately keeping the ghosts back, tackling them, shooting them, growling and hissing and doing everything in his power to shield the oblivious heroes and keep them safe. He can’t even warn them because he’s spending too much power just keeping them alive in the woods. Because of course they decide to investigate the most haunted woods near Amity. Most of these spirits are old, angry, and wild.
And the bats are just casually going about their buisness, discussing the case and the evidence they found.
Danny tackles a ghost wolf to keep them from biting their fangs into Red Hood’s neck.
They follow some tracks.
Danny grabbing the shadowing tendrils attempting to strangle Nightwing.
They even joke around and push each other.
Someone temporarily possessed Red Robin and he starts reaching for a batarang with bloodlust in his eyes, before Danny digs his hands into the bat’s chest and rips out the foreign entity.
There is screaming, snarling, screeches, and lots of punches thrown, all unheard by the bats.
By the end, Danny is panting as they finally made it out of the forest. The bats are tracking a signal, and heading towards an abandoned house. Danny looks up and sees the place absolutly overflowing with spirits. They are crawling up the sides, eyes and teeth and tentacles moving through the wooden boards. Banshees and wraiths, eyeing them through the windows. Skinny limbs with barely any form creaking as their claws try to escape the house and reach towards the group below. Hundreds upon hundreds of spirits all confined to this small hut and ready to tear apart any who enter.
Danny takes one look at them, overhears the bats say that they have to head inside, and decide that he’s not dealing with this today. So he shoots a small laser to cut their power. No signal? No lights? No search.
He can hear the bats complaining but eventually, they have to turn back as they lost the signal and they are unable to continue. And hears them talk about how the place was so weird. Almost like something was watching them.
Phantom sags in relief once they are finally gone.
While they leave, Danny squares his shoulders because he needs to deal with all these ghosts before they get back.
Later, after not finding anything strange about the house or forest or the cause of their case (possibly a death? Or maybe just trying to find information connecting to something else?) and all the previous evidence and traces were gone. So they call in the magic users to use a spell to show the past and figure out what happened. And they can see the group in a sort of 3D holographic image as they investigated. But the spell doesn’t just show them, it shows every being from that time….so the group gets to see just exactly how close they all came to dying.

Pt 3 of Danny the forever teen in the DC universe au, he gets a new hero identity and is introduced to superpowered kids.
[Pt 2 here]
The Titans and Young Justice don't interact as teams very much. Like, they see each other outside of teams fairly often, but it's only as individuals. The teams don't question the sudden combined meeting being called, though. Batman, Red Robin, and Robin were the ones to call it, and after a month of complete radio silence from the Robins, their teams are excited to see them again.
Red Robin cheerfully waves and Robin nods to their teams as they help Batman set up his briefing. It takes a minute, but the Robins flank Batman's sides once everything is ready. It's a detailed presentation of Ecto Entities and a short explanation on what exactly the JL and Bat clan has been working on.
"Any questions?" Silence. "Good. Now there is someone I would like you all to meet. He will be floating between your teams when he isn't helping the Justice League Dark and Justice League."
"Wha-? Are we getting a new babysitter??"
"Hn. In a manner of speaking."
"Nah, he's cool. He just needs to hang out with people his physical age that aren't just Bats." Red Robin waves away the babysitter allegation before looking to his left. "Don't you agree?"
A glowing young teen fades into visibility. He has white hair and green freckles dressed in black and white armor with neon green highlights and starry motifs that looks similar to Robin's, just without a cape. The black domino mask he has neon green lenses verses the usual white. "Oh! Um.. I guess so?"
The young heroes excitably shout before Batman cuts them off.
"Silence!" There's a couple mumbled apologizes as Batman waves the newcomer to stand in front of him. "Introduce yourself."
The kid makes a head movement that the Robins use to indicate they're rolling their eyes at you, even if you can't see it, while complying. "Hello, I'm Astrum. I'm the reason you just had to learn about ecto entities, as I am one. I both am and am not 14 years old."
"What do you mean?" Beast Boy asks, "About the age thing."
"Aw, well, there's 3 separate ages I can give." Astrum continues once the confused noises die down, "I'm physically 14, but I've been an ecto entity for 30, so I might count as 30, but chronologically, I'm 44. It's why I can't commit to only working with adults or children, I'm technically both and will need to interact with both to be emotionally healthy in the long run."
"That sounds confusing."
"Welcome to my life. A confusing painful disaster. I might explain more later, but unless you're about to dive into all your deepest traumas right here and now, I ain't explaining shit." Astrum grins at them, his teeth are a little too sharp for comfort.
"Language."
Astrum whips around to gape at Batman. "Langu-?? Seriously, B-man??"
"Don't bother. He still does that to 'Wing and Hood. There's no escape." Red Robin tells him. The poor guy flounders over the news.
"Hn. Meeting adjourned."
"Cool! Come meet the teams, Astrum!" Red Robin drags him towards the teens. He introduces each person with their full government name and hero identity, getting a lot of stuttering.
"Red! Why are you giving him out secret identities??" Wonder girl protests.
"Because he's Phantom! He can be trusted!" Impulse says, and Astrum jolts and starts trembling.
"Please.. please don't say that name.." Astrum looks so much smaller. "I.. there's too much trauma involving it now...."
The teens rush to reassure him they won't call him that again. If only because the Bat Clan members look a little too calculating. No one wants a pissed off Bat being petty towards them.
"Thanks... I have another name you can call me when we're hanging out outside of hero work." The teens perk up at that. "My name is Danny... just Danny."
"No lastname?" Artemis curiously frowns.
"My human lastname is irrelevant, I stopped associating with it after my birth parents vivisected me." That gets a lot of sputtering.
"We should move this to the lounge." Red Robin pipes up.
"Indeed. We plan to introduce Danny to the many movies he missed out on in the last 28 years." Robin adds. "He's more out of date than I was."
"WHAT?"
"I was being hunted. I didn't have the time or money to see movies" Astrum whines, letting himself be bodily dragged to the lounge.
"Be happy I had a PowerPoint of all the slang you needed to know to survive this." Red Robin teases.
And that's how Astrum, previously known as Danny Phantom, starts hanging out with teens and forcibly learning to be a modern teen himself. He doesn't go on many missions with them because he is too overpowered, and it can hurt the other teens' confidence. He hurts the adults who think he's a dumb kid's confidence when he goes on missions with them too, usually it's a daylight JL member. So he doesn't take it personally.
He loves working with the Flashes, Supers, Wonder Woman, and Zatana, but the Bats and John Constantine are his absolute favourites to work with. They understand how he works the best and can roll with the punches if he does something unexpected. He also lives in the Watchtower, the view of space feeding his obsession is excellent on his mental health as well. Everyone slowly adjusts to this semi-feral ghost child being under foot, doing his best to be helpful, and absolutely demolishing any supernatural threat with ease. No one realizes how powerful he actually is because he holds back and doesn't inform anyone he's the Ghost King.

DP x DC Prompt
Halfa Biology is so much more complex than what is believed. The Mortal and the Ghost sides are two separate entities. In order to become a "True Halfa," both Mortal and Ghost sides must align with each other.
During the portal incident, Danny was sucked into the portal and into the Infinite Realms/Ghost Zone, but as Phantom, an all black Ghost with a permanent Ghost Tail and stars littered across his body, piercing green eyes, flowing white hair, and a mouth that's large when he fully opens it, which also has sharp teeth.
Phantom, as he named himself, lived in the Infinite Realms/Ghost Zone for a few years, thinking that their a full ghost when they were suddenly pulled into a portal that wasn't natural. Phantom had popped back out of the Fenton Portal after Jazz, Sam, and Tucker turned it back on, years later. They turned it on so they could see if Danny had become a Ghost.
Phantom does spend time with Jazz, Sam, and Tucker, not knowing them, but happy to make new friends.
The entirety of the Danny Phantom Canon happens, but without the Fenton Parents, they've moved out of Amity when they learned what happened to Danny. Jazz, Sam, and Tucker are adults, same with the rest of Danny's class, and without "The Ultimate Enemy" happening. Phantom has also inherited the Ghost King title because Vlad Plasmius opened the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep to gain more power.
And then the GIW came, with Fenton Tech they got from Jack and Maddie, Jazz had a hard drive with the tech on it. The GIW had easily captured Vlad Plasmius and ended them. They captured Phantom, but before anything could be done to Phantom, he was saved by Jazz, Sam, and Tucker and sent through the portal back at the old Fentonworks building.
And then Phantom is immediately sent through a natural portal that spits him out in Gotham.
Phantom then makes friends with all of the Batfam members. It takes a while to befriend all of them, as the stabby Robin and Brooding Batdad are the most difficult to befriend out of all of them.
And then something happens that turns Phantom back into Danny, who is still 14, and doesn't know what happened and where he is.

PSA: Do y’all remember when we created the DCDP tags so you could stop overwhelming the Danny Phantom feed? If not, here’s a passive aggressive reminder to STOP TAGGING DANNY PHANTOM IN YOUR POSTS!!!!!! It’s a fandom tag, not a character tag- people coming to the DANNY PHANTOM TAG want to see DANNY PHANTOM content, NOT DC CONTENT!!!
This is not a ‘wHy nOt jUsT bLocK iT?’ Moment. I promise you, I have. But DCDP is big enough that it is its own fandom, and Danny Phantom fans cannot go seven posts without having your stuff shoved down their throats or getting filtered banners popping up in their face, and it’s annoying.
DCDP is irrelevant to Danny Phantom 98% of the time. By which I mean you’re basically using another fandom’s concepts as your OCs for the DC universe- and it’s not allowing a fandom to enjoy their own series and characters in their actual context, and it’s RUDE.
I will be the bad guy and step up and say that it’s rude. I am not one who likes to make posts that make me an asshole, but if the idea of people blocking me for my opinions is exciting then you know there’s a problem, because at least then my dashboard will be clear.
And YOU KNOW ITS RUDE and don’t care, which makes Danny Phantom fans way more likely to want to block your content anyways so why?! And I don’t mean filter, I mean I and several others are literally a millisecond away from blocking every user who Posts DCDP stuff because it’s so en masse and irrelevant. - And that sucks, because I am a comic enthusiast who loves DC, and I love Danny Phantom, but they are two different series and their fandoms should be allowed to have their own spaces where they can enjoy head canons and canon content in their own established worlds with their own side characters.
I don’t hate crossovers, but this is not cute in this capacity and you know it because the sheer quantity is its own separate entity at this point. I would be hardcore willing to bet that many people don’t even have a first experience with the series on its own without this crossover on the brain because we are choking on it. I’m not even someone who worships canon, but come on, let us BREATHE.
You are suffocating and massacring a small fandom for a cancelled series that has been hanging on by its bloody fingernails and nostalgia for 20 years, and it’s fucking obnoxious. I can’t even favorite the main tag for one of my favorite series because I will get the wrong content and it SUCKS. Genuinely.
(Side note, have you seen AO3 lately? Where the hell are the Danny Phantom Fics? It’s insane. This is like invasion of the body snatchers but instead DP content is being slowly wiped from existence by DC under its own fandom tag. It’s almost demoralizing but at least we can actually filter there.)
No ifs, ands or buts. No ‘oh this is DP adjacent so I should tag it.’ No ‘This has this character so I should tag it.’ NO. This is not a cute crossover moment. STOP. FOR. THE. LOVE. OF. GOD. USING DANNY PHANTOM TAGS. USE THE DPXDC TAGS!!!
I don’t want to go in a pizza shop, ask for a slice of pizza, and get handed a hamburger. I am being so for real right now, I am begging on my hands and knees, holy shit.
#I’m so done being nice about this. Have some fandom etiquette and self awareness.#dpxdc#dc x dp#dc x dp crossover#danny phantom#danny fenton#DPDC#DCDP

A Brief AU Explanation
I noticed that there are a lot of new followers that do know Danny Phantom, and others that the know very little. I am also aware that I haven't fully explained - maybe NOT in too much detail - the "story" and plots of my AU. You only have the ideas that I've been telling of this story through illustrations.
This AU is all about reconnecting with one self, with Jazz and Dan as the main two of this particular game.
Jazz remains as the same character that is portrayed through the OG show. She has always been the psychology enthusiast of the group, the one that cares for others and help with whatever she can. For her, others come first. First being her family.
On the other hand, we have Dan, an alternate entity of Danny’s ghost half and Vlad’s. A new form of entity that lost his humanity. For him to show any form of emotion is null.
Jazz involvement in this has to do with her putting everyone else first and then herself, and being keen to the study of the human-psyche, and now ghost-psyche, she secretly partakes to the role of Dan’s therapist. This was kept in secret from the rest of her friends and Danny until she can gain more control over Dan.
This, of course, prove to be a VERY difficult task. With her having to hide her constant fears when facing that “particular someone”: he could go on a rampage, have uncontrollable outbursts, cause havoc, and that he could turn against her any day/time without any remorse. She knows this, but she also knows that deep down, her little brother is still there. She’s looking to rekindle that part of him again. Of course, never knowing at what extent this could go.
And this, apparently started to bear fruit, although at a slow pace. As Jazz stood closer and closer to him, she understood that he stayed alone his entire life, and after losing everyone he cared, his violent actions were his significance of showing the world "hurting". The hurt he have been caring so many years. Now he has that second chance. To “live” a new life and Jazz wants to help him out.
With this new information, each time Jazz got close to him, Dan, instead of seeing her as an obnoxious-human-parasite, he slowly starts bonding with her. His interest increasing each day he is with her and grows more comfortable being around her (something Dan originally despised).
***
Part of this AU, enrolls on a particular context that the ghost of a halfa is sentient. The original show as proven this*. When Danny’s ghost has been separated, his ghost has a mind of his own, but when staying together, human-ghost, the consciousness of the halfa acts as one. *Episodes in question: What You Want, Identity Crisis, The Ultimate Enemy
This part that the ghost plays on the known halfas is a mayor plot point from this AU. Let me explain my concept briefly:
This roll that the ghost is part of the halfa is the one that caries the power of the wielder (human). The human can transform into the ghost and vice versa. The ghost powers remain within the ghost half. The human half acts as a vessel/host to the ghost half.
All living things have the instinct of survival. And on this case, the ghosts would do ANYTHING to keep their host safe as they are the means of a linked connection human-ghost. Not unlike the rest of non-halfa- ghosts that their link/host relies on the Ghost Zone -since they no longer have a corporeal body, the vessel for their survival is ectoplasmic energy, the one that emanates from the GZ.
***
Since Dan is no longer connected to a human, he became a full-ghost. An entity that merged from two ghost halfas. He can sustain himself alone, but strangely enough, he building a bond with Jazz, it rekindled what Jazz intended, but in an unusual way. Jazz intention was to try and reconnect Dan with his long-lost humanity. Even if he didn’t have a human half, both his ghosts may have some little information stored deep within of what that used to feel like. And even though that started to give results, the ghost also retained that of his original purpose: Protect the host.
And as the bond Dan and Jazz grew more and more, unknown to them, it caused a physical manifestation: a white streak formed in Jazz’s hair. And even if this came up as a surprise to Jazz, she later discovered that this manifestation was much more than just physical.
Dan rekindled his humanity but he, unknowingly, intertwined Jasmine’s humanity to his. Her humanity is part of him. Jasmine’s emotions have an impact on him. Whatever she feels, he can sense it, let them be good or bad ones.
They both are this new form of halfa, both human and ghost are separate life forms, but from the ghost side -Dan’s perspective- Jazz is acting as his human half. His host. That’s is why his instincts respond to protect her at all costs.
No. This new form of a halfa representation doesn't mean Jazz has ghost powers. The one with that power is Dan. This bond is more of a psychic link.
(i.e. In European folklore, you “could” say Dan is Jasmine’s "familiar", although Jazz is not considered to be a witch, but imagine the possibilities of this small plot causing people or ghosts to think Jazz is a witch… idk… random ideas)
This is why Dan is more sympathetic towards Jazz and why their bond is very important.
______________
It's worth pointing out that I don't have a specific name for this AU, like many people do when they create these stories. And NO. Please refrain from saying this is a romantic relationship. It is a sibling/platonic relationship.

for this prompt i thought i’d explore an au idea that’s been brewing in the back of my head for a while. basically, rather than danny being half ghost and phantom, phantom is its own separate entity. it latches onto danny like a parasite of sorts, and feeds off his fear (and sam and tucker’s as well, though to a lesser extent). there aren’t other ghosts in amity park, just phantom, and the story would follow the trio trying to dispel phantom before it kills danny via draining his life energy

Alibi
Why is everyone ignoring the most obvious reason to how Danny kept his identity secret: his alibi?
Majority of what I've seen so far on this topic goes along the lines of 'Fenton is alive so obviously he can't be a ghost'. But very few is mentioning that Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom have literally been seen existing together at the same time, pretty early too in Identity Crisis?
Also Vlad showcased several times that as a halfa his dupes can switch forms independently of each other. Which given the speed Danny grew into his power, wouldn't take him long to figure out after he managed to dupe himself, even if he never did it in canon (I think).
Conclusion: Danny managed to keep his identity secret because he does have actual alibi. Not all the time, mind you, but often enough that people legitimately sees them as separate entities.

woke up from a dead sleep last night realizing I could make soroku flavored pitch pearl and no one could stop me
edit: you know what? I'm feral and I won't apologize. more under the cut bc this is my house
I slammed this out all at once so I apologize for the quality but I'm having EMOTIONS
so imagine. bc of the way Danny was quickly resuscitated, his ghost only barely started forming. With the excess blast of ectoplasm from the portal being created, that little whisp was given form even after Danny's soul returned to his body.
except this ghost (Phantom) slowly comes into consciousness while trapped in Danny's body. they're separate entities sharing one body, but Phantom doesn't really have a sense of self right away. he pieces together vague fragments of Danny's memory to get a basic understanding of the world, and is mostly just observing like a backseat passenger.
Phantom starts reflexively protecting Danny, his powers and instincts bleeding through when his emotions are high. Danny doesn't really transform, and his personality doesn't totally shift that much at first because Phantom’s mind isn't complex yet. but as time goes on, and Danny has tense conversations with ghosts, Phantom realizes that's what he is. he's a ghost, somehow trapped in his old body. and even now, this early on, he already feels separate. he doesn't have all the memories Danny has.
this slowly turns into horror. into rage. sorrow, mourning a life he never got and will never get to have. forever trapped behind the eyes of someone else, never able to interact with the world. Phantom's rage eventually boils over until it allows him short bursts of taking over Danny's body. it starts out small–a stray hand moving without his consent, knees locking up, ghost abilities going awry. Danny can start feeling emotions that don't belong to him. get vague impressions, almost hears a voice inside him.
and eventually, Phantom is able to fully take over. this is when Danny “transforms". at first, Danny blacks out because his consciousness isn't used to being shoved into the back seat. but eventually, he's awake for these “episodes", trapped in the back of his mind while Phantom controls his body. this only happens when ghost stuff is happening, when Phantom feels threatened enough. he's not protecting Danny, he's protecting himself. Phantom knows instinctively that if Danny dies, he dies too. he's not a normal ghost, he wouldn't be freed. he'd simply disappear.
at one point after a fight, Phantom can feel Danny struggling to take back control. and he talks to Danny for the first time, acknowledges he's there. asks how it's fair that Danny is the one that gets to exist. but Phantom is tired and weak, he slips back into the passenger seat.
over the next few days, he's able to start talking to Danny even while he's not driving. though he's not chatty, it's only when necessary. and Danny knows, can feel it across the link between them–Phantom hates him. the ghost he created is desperate to find a way to take over completely. and as time goes on, Danny realizes with horror that it might actually be possible for Phantom to do that. he grows stronger every day, can stay transformed longer, controls Danny's body with much more ease.
it's only through a chance meeting with Frostbite that Danny and Phantom fully learn what happened to them. Danny feels sympathetic towards Phantom now. this isn't a malevolent ghost, it's a person who was never given the chance to live. who's trapped. who has to watch someone else live a life they're just as deserving of.
and Phantom feels that emotion from Danny. is so shocked by it, he doesn't know how to handle it at first. it takes him a while to contemplate, to talk to other ghosts like Frostbite. until one day, Phantom realizes… he feels sympathy for Danny, too.
neither of them asked for this. both of them deserve to live. Danny didn't do anything wrong. they're both villains to each other's story. and if anything… doesn't Phantom owe his life to Danny in the first place?
Phantom takes over less often. Danny doesn't feel hatred from him anymore. anger, yes–but not aimed at him. in fact, Phantom starts controlling their body in little ways in order to protect Danny from things that aren't even dangerous. just to avoid pain that would only affect the human tethered to him.
it isn't long before they're separated, either thanks to another ghost or Danny's parents. they're thrown apart in the middle of a horrific fight, and when Danny sees Phantom's equally shocked expression, he's terrified.
this ghost that hated him for so long–at best, Phantom would leave him defenseless. at worst, surely some part of Phantom still wants to kill him for stealing away his chance for autonomy.
and yet, when fire rains down on them, Phantom risks it all to grab Danny and get them both to safety. they're still both shaken and stunned this is even happening, but Phantom is able to nervously be like shit shit shit okay stay here don't go anywhere or I can't protect you, okay?
after the fight is over and dust settles, Phantom offers Danny his hand. they stare at each other and god if this isn't the weirdest thing. like, uh, okay, what now? they decide to go see Frostbite, who confirms that they're fully separate now. they ask if there's any chance of merging again and Frostbite assures it's impossible.
Phantom asks, even if I overshadowed Danny? or stay real close? yes, it's nothing to worry about. they leave, and back in the quiet of Danny's room, they talk. Phantom isn't sure what to do. now that opportunity is in front of him, he feels paralyzed. Danny does his best to let Phantom know that… they might be separate now, but if he ever wants help or even just a friendly ear, he's here for him.
Phantom is quiet for a while. then says maybe he just needs to rest first. he'll think about it tomorrow. they're both exhausted and injured. Phantom asks quietly… if he could rest in Danny for the night.
Danny's shocked, and–really confused. Phantom blushes and is like I don't know what my haunt is yet, I don't know where to go, but I know… you're kind of my home. now that I know I can leave whenever I want, it's not something bad anymore. I miss feeling your heart next to my core, just a little bit.
and Danny is just as surprised when Phantom overshadows him, then quietly nestles into the passenger seat again. he didn't realize how he got used to feeling Phantom with him. it's a feedback loop of contentedness, and Danny sleeps easily. (they also find out while sharing a body, Danny gets to reap the benefits of Phantom's supernatural healing)
anyway that's all I got for now thank u for coming to my ted talk
#I'll be honest. it has interested me. I've read fics. I'm just more interested in other stuff for dp#but the prospect of pitch pearl 'enemies to friends also maybe they kiss about it' has me sweating nervously#the struggle and angst of defining yourself against your progenitor. the defiant sorrowful anger funneled into misplaced hatred#only to slowly realize your progenitor is a sweet person who didn't condemn you. they even fight for you to have your own agency#so once you finally have your own body you'll do anything to protect that person you've come to truly care about#and because you shared a body for so long. because you had the same origin. you know them as well as you know yourself#you're not incomplete but you still hold half of each other#HAHA WOW anyway I'm in danger :)#don't. don't look at me#should i even tag this. yeah okay#Danny Phantom#pitch pearl

Yknow what would be fun? If people explored the whole ‘everyone thinks Danny and Phantom are two entirely different people’ thing further in dc x dp fics. Not as in, ‘analyzing how that would affect him and his day to day and how it would mess with his psyche’.
But pure shits and giggles.
For example:
I just saw a post that used the pre-mentioned trope to detail a prompt in which Danny and Phantom are assumed to be in a relationship and that Ellie is/was their child. And then later on, Danny is assumed to be ‘pregnant again’ and mad at Phantom for getting him pregnant ‘again’.
And then, I saw another post with DeadTired (Tim x Danny) in which Danny and Phantom are assumed to be lovers (they ‘separate’ in literal terms— as in, Danny and Phantom become separate entities when they chose to— and call each other their ‘other half’ without thinking of the implications) and everyone believes that Phantom is simply waiting for Danny to die so they may be together in death as they ‘cannot be in life’. And Tim, of course, decides to try to make sure him and Danny stay together even after death. Danny is just confused why his boyfriend is suddenly talking about death so much.
The trope in which people believe— like everyone believes— that a character is romantically involved with their secret identity whilst they remain oblivious to said belief is everything to me. And Danny is so perfect for it. Because for as much as he would definitely hide his secret identity fiercely, he’s also a teenage boy who doesn’t always understand the implications his words have.
Or, better yet, he’s trying to hide his identity from the bats or something and he just keeps accidentally making it sound like Phantom and him are involved!
This is especially good when we consider the whole ‘Ghost King’ part of Phantom (not cannon but yknow). Like, the horror that comes with the thought of this random teenage boy that you know and care about being involved with a being with records of him dating back to Egypt and whose very mention has his enemies cowering?
I love when the miscommunication trope is used like this.

Vlad Masters stood with a cruel grin on his face as he stared down at the trembling figure of Danny Phantom. The machine he’d designed hummed ominously in the background, still crackling with leftover energy. Danny’s human form was seated nearby, dazed but unscathed, and completely unaware of what was unfolding with his other half.
"You should be honored, Danny," Vlad said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "You’ve just witnessed a feat of science and magic that no one else could even dream of accomplishing. I’ve done what no one else has dared to do—separate the two halves of you."
Danny blinked, his gaze flicking between his human body, still a bit groggy, and his ghostly half, now fully detached and floating in mid-air. But what he saw made him freeze in place.
His ghost form—his Phantom self—was wild-eyed and panicked. It flinched at every movement, every sound. Its wide, unblinking eyes darted around the lab like a terrified animal. The white glowing energy that usually surrounded it pulsed erratically, flickering like a malfunctioning light. Danny’s ghost half hyperventilated, its breaths coming in short, sharp gasps.
"Danny...?" Danny’s human voice wavered in confusion as he looked toward the frightened version of himself. "What’s wrong with you?"
Vlad chuckled, stepping forward with a twisted grin that made Danny's stomach churn. "What you're seeing, Danny, is something truly remarkable. Your ghost half has no idea what it’s even supposed to be right now. Until now, it was just an extension of you. A part of your physical being. It existed only as an echo of your human side. But now—" Vlad gestured grandly toward the floating, terrified figure. "Now, it is its own entity, detached and fully alive in its own right."
Danny stared, confused and unsure. "But... but it's still me, right? It’s still me, just... ghostified?"
Vlad’s grin twisted wider. "Oh, but you couldn’t be more wrong, Danny. Up until now, your ghost half only existed because you did. It wasn’t truly separate, not in any real sense. It’s always been you—until I ripped it from you. You were its womb, Danny. The place where it formed, the place where it took shape, where it was nurtured. And now, it has no idea how to exist on its own. It’s like a child suddenly born into the world with no knowledge, no direction. It has no idea what to do with itself."
Danny’s heart sank as he looked at the shaking, panicked version of himself. His ghost half’s face was filled with fear, like a creature trying to make sense of its new reality but not knowing how. It glanced at its hands, at the walls, at Danny, as though trying to piece together the world around it. Every few seconds, it let out a small, panicked gasp.
"Please... it doesn’t know how to be without me," Danny whispered in horror.
Vlad’s laugh echoed in the room. "Precisely. You’ve just witnessed the creation of something that was never meant to be separate from you. And now it’s lost. A frightened, helpless thing that doesn’t understand its own existence."
"Stop it, Vlad!" Danny growled, standing up, his fists clenched. "I won’t let you hurt it!"
Vlad’s eyes sparkled with malice. "Oh, but that’s the beauty of it, Danny. I don’t need to do anything. Your ghost half is its own worst enemy right now. It doesn’t know what it is or how to function outside of you. It’s scared—terrified of this new world it’s been thrown into. You were its anchor, its guide, its stability. Without you, it’s nothing."
The ghost version of Danny let out a choked sound, its body twisting and flickering as it hovered, trying to make sense of its surroundings. It reached out to Danny’s human form, its ethereal hand trembling.
Danny stepped forward, his heart racing in his chest as he reached out to his ghost self. "I’m right here, I’m still me, okay? You don’t have to be scared. We’ll figure this out. Together."
But Vlad's voice interrupted him, cutting through the tension like a knife. "You think you can calm it, Danny? It’s already too far gone. It doesn’t even know how to exist on its own. It doesn’t know how to be a ghost—let alone a separate one. Look at it—look at what you've become."
The ghost Danny flinched again, its eyes wide, a silent scream forming in the depths of its gaze. It was caught in a panic loop, unsure of how to function, its sense of self still in pieces. The energy surrounding it pulsed erratically, fluctuating as though it was a disconnected heart trying to find a rhythm.
"No..." Danny whispered, his throat tight. "No, this isn't... this isn’t what I wanted."
Vlad smiled maliciously, stepping back to observe his handiwork. "You never wanted this, Danny? You were too stubborn to see it, but you’ve always been half of a whole. Now you’re nothing but fragments, struggling to survive on your own."
Danny’s ghost self floated back, eyes locking onto its human counterpart with a pleading, panicked gaze. It reached out, its hand trembling in the air, as though trying to connect with something—anything—before it dissolved into chaos.
The words hit Danny like a hammer to the chest. He couldn’t leave his ghost self like this. But he didn’t know how to fix it.
Vlad’s words echoed in his mind, the terrifying realization settling in. He had to find a way to reforge the connection between them. To remind his ghost half that they were more than just fragments. That they were two halves of a whole.
And he wouldn’t let Vlad take that from him.

something I turn around in my head sometimes about agit, is how for the first time we get a canonical name they use to refer to Dan ( seeing as the name Dan had always been popular fanon ) from characters who aren’t from the tue timeline, and thus have the context to know he’s both phantom and plasmius
but instead of coming up with any kind of alternate name to avoid confusion ( like gravity falls with bipper, for example ), they still refer to him as Phantom.
sure, everyone knows Danny’s identity now, so they can just use his real name to differentiate. But Phantom is still part of a name Danny chose for himself, something that is an integral part of him now.
Dan—Phantom, if sticking with what the other characters refer to him as—is an entirely separate entity at this point, from Danny and Vlad both, but they’re still very integral, core parts of him.
It’s been a minute since I read agit, so there may be things I’m not recalling atm, but I find it very interesting, how the first person to really shed light on the personhood “Evil Phantom” ( and isn’t that quite an implication, the way the name Phantom is still said with derision? Even if it is a different context than before Danny’s identity was revealed ) still holds is Vlad. Because, both in tue and agit up until the climax of the fight, he is shown as evil just to be evil, a manifestation of how so many ghost hunters view ghosts
Idk. I just find it very interesting

ULTIMATE DANNY PHANTOM
SKULKER
Psychic screams of humans and animals alike ripple though the dimensional fabric separating Earth from the Zero Space. These echoes capture the emotional state of their source in that moment. While the resulting organism may bear some resemblance to its originator, it is typically singularly fixated on the circumstances of its creation. The Lunch Lady, for example, is trapped in a moment of cold despair and loneliness. Aragon was born of the collective fear of an entire kingdom. But Skulker is a different type of ghost entirely.
History is filled with hunters. The concept of The Hunt is so ingrained in human consciousness it has manifested countless times in our collective mythologies, from Artemis to Wepwawet to Bhadra, and even more that have been lost to time. Yet the idea that The Hunt could manifest into a single entity does not rest in the realm of fantasy alone. Just as animals and humans hunt in the mortal realm, so too do their echoes hunt in Zero Space. Over time, one of these echoes learned to absorb the essence of its prey. To best the myriad dangerous beasts which stalked the astral plane of the Ghost Zone, this echo targeted its fellow hunters, taking their skills and knowledge for itself. Centuries passed. Then millennia. In time, any echo with enough sense to feel fear learned to fear Skulker, the Ghost Zone’s greatest hunter.
Skulker was so infamous in the Ghost Zone that he could even wield his own notoriety as a weapon. His reputation engendered rumors and legends about his appearance, none of which bore any resemblance to Skulker’s true form – a diminutive green blob with wiry arms and legs. Skulker often hunted with cunning strategy and traps, but some prey were too powerful or cunning themselves to be defeated in this way. To compensate for his physical limitations, Skulker contracted with the enigmatic and ingenious Armorers to construct an advanced armored exoskeleton. The towering robotic shell allowed the tiny ghost to more than live up to his legend.
When a new authority figure rose to prominence in Zero Space seeking to impose order on the inherently chaotic nature of the ethereal realm, Skulker found freedom in the form of a mysterious benefactor. Not only would the job pay well, but Skulker would be granted the most coveted prize of all – a one way ticket back to Earth. And all he had to do in exchange was stand back and watch a human teenage boy and his two closest friends.
Powers and Abilities
Robotic Exosuit: Smelted in the incomparable heat of pyroplastic forges, the metallic alloys of Skulker’s suit are invulnerable to all but the strongest of mankind’s ballistic ordinances. The ectoplasmic molecular structure of the alloy serves as a conductor for Skulker’s powers of intangibility, invisibility, and flight and also allows him to grapple with spectral entities that would otherwise phase through solid objects. The exosuit connects to Skulker’s mind via a system of neural receptors which translate the ghost’s mental stimuli to physical output. The suit is powered by an extremely efficient ectoplasmic generator – the very sort the Fentons aspired to create using ectoplasm harvested by their siphon. The suit’s generator can be jettisoned in the event of a catastrophic meltdown. The suit’s ectoplasm-powered hydraulic actuators enable Skulker to lift over ten tons.
Built-In Armaments: The suit’s right gauntlet houses a retractable Anti-Ghost (AG) Ray. The weapon fires a beam of energy calibrated to disrupt the molecular frequency of ghosts, causing immense pain and death if subject to prolonged exposure at full power. Skulker can fire this beam in wide concussive blasts or concentrate it into a precise cutting implement. On the left gauntlet is housed a retractable chainsaw weapon. The chainsaw is forged from the same metal as the suit, making it nigh-unbreakable and capable of shredding objects and creatures from the Ghost Zone and Earth alike. On the right shoulder, Skulker installed a Titan rocket pod of his own design which houses ten homing projectiles. On impact, or controlled detonation, each Titan rocket explodes with a powerful burst of AG energy equivalent to ten kilograms of TNT. In a pinch, Skulker’s entire chassis can be used as a weapon by flying it into objects or enemies at high speeds. He usually doesn’t do that on purpose. On his left shoulder, in lieu of a typical pauldron, Skulker has fastened the skull of one of his greatest hunts - that of the purple back gorilla.
Combat Skills: Skulker is a master of hand to hand combat, fighting with designed and improvised melee weapons, and is a crack shot with all manner of guns and bows. Few creatures between either Earth and the Void can match Skulker in a one-on-one fight. His sidearm of choice is a modified Chiappa Rhino which fires .50 cal AG rounds, and Skulker is never seen without his trusty combat knife. If the occasion calls for excessive force – or if Skulker is in the mood to deploy excessive force – his go-to weapon is the AG-920 railgun which magnetically propels a specialized AG-Tungsten projectile at hypersonic speeds. A single shot from the railgun penetrate subterranean concrete bunkers and level entire buildings. If Skulker has learned one lesson above all, it is that those who fight with honor are often the first to die. Skulker would be the first to admit he fights dirty – and credits that type of fighting to his longevity.
Adaptive Problem Solving: Skulker’s greatest weapon is his mind. Centuries of hunting the strange creatures of Zero Space, and absorbing fellow hunters, has expanded the ghost’s mind. Just as Skulker outwardly hungers for a good hunt, his mind hungers for knowledge. When not actively hunting, Skulker can be found in his lair reading anything he can get his gauntlets on – from Shakespearean literature to trashy romance novels to young adult adventure books and even lifestyle magazines legally purchased from authorized vendors stolen from grocery store checkout aisles.
---
During Skulker’s research on the three human children, Skulker made a surprising discovery. The latest hunter to join the Skulker composite was the echo of a man named Kevin. As the United States entered the Cold War with the Soviet Union after World War II, Kevin was climbing the ranks in a private military corporation (PMC). The PMC was contracted by the United States to conduct sabotage and target exfiltration missions in Soviet territory. His final mission failed in spectacular fashion due to faulty intelligence. Kevin and his entire squad were wiped out after a frantic gunfight that leveled an entire village and left many innocents dead. His remains were never recovered and the US disavowed any knowledge of his unit's activities in Soviet territory.
In life, Kevin was a skilled tracker. It was one of the traits that drew Skulker’s attention. Kevin's echo spent several years carrying on its originator's work - infiltrating, sabotaging, and destabilizing small hamlets and villages where ghosts had congregated in some semblance of their Earthly lives. Skulker was hired to bring this meddler to justice, dead or alive. Kevin's echo gave Skulker a run for his money, but it was defeated and assimilated like so many echoes before it.
Now on Earth, the ghost hunter’s research uncovered another trait of Kevin’s. The man died with no spouse and no children. But he did have a brother. Kevin’s pension with the PMC paid handsomely to his next of kin, and Izzy Manson would use that money to kick-start his toothpick-cellophane business, creating a legacy that would one day become the inheritance of Samantha Manson... Kevin’s – and now, Skulker’s – niece.

They were once one...

Basically my new headcannon kinda is that Clockwork from Danny Phantom and Father Time from Fairly Oddparents were once one entity- Kronos. But when the 'Great Divide' that's talked about in A Glitch in Time happened, he tried desperately to fix it. Though the effort was futile and ended up splitting him in half. Most of his godlike powers, and not to mention the side that took his job seriously, was yanked out and turned into Clockwork. What was left behind in the living world is the silly old man who's always late that appears in the FOP episode 'Timmy's Secret Wish.' Being separated, they're both slightly breaking apart. Clockwork, physically- which is why he has that crack over his eye. And Father Time, mentally- which is why the supposed god of time doesn't do much and is just being an old idiot for the most part.
This also explains why Clockwork mentions his powers being 'finite' during A Glitch in Time despite him seeming like an all-powerful being. He's not whole. And unfortunately, like all of the other ghosts that have been in the Ghost Zone for a long time, he's forgotten his past but not his purpose.
I don't know what's up with his redesign in A New Wish, but in the original, he has a similar nose to Clockwork? Kinda.

And I don't know if this is relevant but- their beard lines are technically opposites?

I honestly have no freaking clue. I just think this is a cool idea that explains how both these people can coexist. Clearly Clockwork is far more than just a ghost. He's a time God to some degree, right? We all agree on that? The ghosts in A Christmas Carol are kind of Gods but are called ghosts, so...?
#danny phantom#danny phantom clockwork#dp clockwork#Fop Father Time#random theory#But hey#That's just a theory#A FILM THEORY#For real though I'm just messing around#Don't take any of this too seriously

Hey Hi how have you been?
Okay I need to get this concept out of my head otherwise it will keep me awake for weeks
Well, I present to you chimera or genetic chimerism. It is a very rare condition with at least 100 cases recorded throughout humanity.
Now with all this imagine the following.
Maddie did not stop working during the entire time she was pregnant with her children. With Jazz she was more careful about that, but with Danny she was more lenient in that regard.
That's why she never knew she was supposed to have twins and only Danny survived the entire gestation. (Well this is where chimerism comes into play)
Now imagine that souls begin to form or join their mortal body with the first beats of their heart. The simple fact of absorbing the brother who died is a way of maintaining the soul of the other brother.
So this would be more or less a Danny and Phantom are separate but familiar entities to each other.
I don't know how to handle this, it could have some good angst potential, it could be some comedy or something completely different. I don't know how it would fit in dcxdp either.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings ❤️
I was thinking this!! Well, not exactly this, but I was thinking that Danny was probably a twin but he ate the other in the womb, since he had children who were twins (Misty and Jackson).
Ooh, this gives an interesting view of Phantom and Danny when they separated and became their own living beings in that one episode. Especially since it can explain why their personalities were so different.
Thank you for the ask :)

Since I have acquired more followers, hello, I offer a sneak peek at the first chapter of my Danny Phantom fic, Duct Tape and Ecto-Paint, and yes, it will be in journal format, because i can't write action scenes. Also, since we have next to no canon dates, I'm making Danny a summer's end child. and maybe a bit of Phantom and Fenton being two separate entities at first.
August 18, 2004
They're working on the portal again. Supposedly, this time they'll get it to work, unlike the last three times. i don't why is Jazz said she'd make mac and cheese for dinner, since the hot dogs are waging war between the brands. Here's hoping being 14 will change things.

It's working now. why didn't they notice me?
Turns out, they put the on switch on the inside of the portal. i wish i hadn't let sam talk me into that picture
I missed a couple of days, got the date wrong. Side effect affect of the whole electrocuted thing. i can't be dead, right?
maybe now they'll focus on me and jazz?
